With more Lamborghinis than Volkswagens (there is even a exotic cars vending machine!) and about 40% being of the population being expats; Singapore is truly a glamorous city. And although there is a lot of great things to do in “underground Singapore”, sometimes you really want to go above ground. And what place is better above ground than a rooftop bar.
And this article will tell you exactly which rooftop bar in Singapore you want to visit first. And which is the number 2 rooftop bar Singapore, number 3, etc. I have taken one for the team visited them all so you don’t need to worry about it. Yet I can recommend to visit them all!
#1 Rooftop Bar Singapore – 1-Altitude
Better take a shower before you go to 1-altitude, you don’t want to be under dressed with the number 1 Rooftop Bar Singapore. By far the best rooftop bar in Singapore is 1-Altitude. With over 280m high it provides a 360 degrees view of the city! Located in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District. I like to go here in beginning of the evening, around sunset which is at 18:30-ish. Around this time you also don’t need to wait in line so long, because there can be quite a cue sometimes at 1-Altitude. Best on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
For Dinner make sure to make a reservation! A beer/wine will set you back around S$15 and for a cocktail you pay about S$20+. Yet, a must visit!
Practically I take everyone to Cé La Vi who comes to visit me in Singapore. For 3 reasons: First, it’s in the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel & casino which gives you a 200. high view around the city. Second, it’s close to the “Gardens by the Bay”, so very good to combine in an afternoon. And third, most important, you get a free drink with your admission fee! Okay, it will cost you around S$20 to go up there, but this is even worth it without the “free” drink. Ah, and they have a free snack such as crisps and nuts. Anyway it offers a great view, a good place to sit down and its people watching during the day. Because the other half of the deck is practically a huge swimming pool for the Rich and Famous it’s a great place to watch fat guys taking selfies with their too pretty girlfriends! Awesome place! Go there in the afternoon.
Address: Bay Sands North Tower, 1 Bayfront Avenue (all the way on the north side of the complex there is an elevator to take)
#3 Rooftop Bar Singapore – New Asia Bar
This bar has a great price/quality combo if you go there in time. Basically during the day it offers great promotions for food and drinks which means you can have a few more for a bit less! Okay, perhaps being cheap is not the way to go if you go to a rooftop bar in Singapore. However I promise it’s a great place! With being the oldest Rooftop bar in Singapore and each year in the top 50 of best bars in the world there is no way going wrong with the Swissotel the Stamford rooftop bar. In the evening the bar transforms to an awesome club with very good DJ’s.
It’s located in the Central Business District, so perfectly to combine with other rooftop bars such as the 1-Altitude! Make it rooftop bar crawl! Yay!
#4 Rooftop Bar Singapore – Hi-SO
With being the highest Microbrewery in the world LeVel 33 is an amazing high quality pub that is a must visit for all beer lovers. And while drinking a lot of micro brewed beers doesn’t make you an alcoholic but a hobbyist, being a hipster is not all about roses. I truly like this place. Although not the cheapest place in town, the rare home brewed beers are just right for anyone with an exquisite beer taste. The view is just amazing seeing over the Marina Bay. It’s kind of a “after work drinking place”, so go there just after 6pm for a great spot to sit. Check out the sunset, watch people and work on your “hobby” in the evening!
#6 Rooftop Bar Singapore – Super Tree
Not really a rooftop nor a bar. Not sure if this place counts as a rooftop bar.., but I’m not here to judge. However this is just an amazing place. Being high in the canopies of the Gardens at the Bay with all the man-made vertical gardens having a cold one with the boys will never be the same again. Okay, I would go here with my friends to party.. however when you visit the Gardens by the Bay this is a great and unique place for a snack or afternoon drink. Being in the middle of nature, looking over the skyline of Singapore and having a Zen moment Super Tree by IndoChine is a one-of-a-kind establishment.
#7 Rooftop Bar Singapore – Potato Head Folk
I like this place. It not as pretensions and luxurious as most of the other rooftop bars; it has a relaxing hipster-like atmosphere. Although also not very high, situated on the 4th floor, it offers a great view of all the old town architecture and skyscrapers that made Singapore the city it is today! Basically in the heart of buzzing China Town! And just like all the historic heritage surrounding Potato Head Fold, the interior is just as cozy being mostly second hand. The staff is very nice, great to talk to and the venue offers a great price for all its drinks and eats!
Okay, this also might be the #1 rooftop bar in Singapore. I just don’t know anymore, I went to too many rooftop bars by now.. but this place it great. Being situated at the top of the Odeon Towers this bar has been awarded for best bar in Singapore. The atmosphere is relaxing, the people are nice and just has a lay back touch to it. Maybe it’s the beerpong that makes it look laid back..
And although I’m not a guy in a rush, Loof’s “beat the clock” concept is definitely a reason to go there early, where the drinks get S$1 more expensive each hour fom 5pm till 9pm. A beer will set you back around S$10 after happy hour and Loof is open till 1am. Nice place!
Address: 331 North Bridge Road – top floor of Odeon Towers
#9 Rooftop Bar Singapore – the Singapore Flyer
Everything can be a rooftop bar if you’re brave enough… Okay, you need some minor preparations for this venue, but it beats any rooftop bar at any time. Get yourself some nice snacks, a bottle of wine, some glasses perhaps and head out to the Singapore Flyer. Okay, you need to pay around S$20 entrance fee, but than you will have an amazing experience no one will ever take away from you. It’s never very crowded there and therefore an outstanding place to have some quality time. The Ferris wheel’s capsules are spacious, offer a great view of the city and is nothing like anything you have ever experienced. Ah, and with 165m high it’s also the tallest Ferris Wheel in the world… until they build a taller one in Las Vegas, but who’s counting right?
