Escape the city and head out to one of the many man-made Singapore Beaches. With arguably the best beaches in the world you need to have some pretty good arguments. Okay, they are maybe not comparable with other South-Asian beaches such as Krabi or the Philippine coastline…
However, all the Singaporean beaches are definitely arguable the most complete beaches ever build. With complete I mean a complete package of fun at the beach. For example, head to a Caribbean-pirate style beach, party at the Tangjung beach or head for sports and nature to the Changi beach coastal park. The facilities everywhere are just amazing and very well build. I would recommend just choosing ideal beach and go there for a day!
Singapore really did an outstanding job creating these beaches! I, personally, couldn’t have made them better! There are two kinds of beaches you can go: the Singapore beaches on Sentosa Island and the mainland Singapore beaches. Where the beaches on Sentosa Island are perfectly landscaped, have tons of bars and restaurant and good places to do beach sports; the mainland Singapore beaches offer a very unique style of entertainment. Watch all the large container-ships while you’re laying in the sand, check out all the airplanes coming and going from the airport and take a dive with the locals. Both places are great for a day of beach fun!
Mainland Singapore Beaches
Singapore Beaches on Sentosa Island
With mostly being a (the #1) place of entertainment, fun parks and museums Sentosa Island is just as famous as it is notorious. Mostly a place for families, people with no sense of adventure and large pockets? Well yes and no. Sentosa is indeed a place where you easily can spend a fortune! No problem. However this status is not entirely true. Sentosa island offers a lot more than this: it’s a great place for a nice Saturday walk for example. Due to the sheer size of the island it’s impossible to see it all in 1 day. And yes, there is a lot to see! Walking towards the island from the mainland is already an experience of its own. Head towards the exotic gardens at the entrance and get indulged by all kinds of exotic trees and plants. Walk though a man made cave and just relax a bit! Next, all the buildings and attraction entrances are nice to see!
For example, I could just sit at the huge “Universal Studios” sign for a few hours and watch people. It’s a nice place to just stroll around and check out places. There is huge Merlion to see! Maybe even 10x bigger than the original in Marina Bay! And walking towards the beach with its Gaudi inspired Park like mosaic art is a nice way of experiencing Singapore in another way. After strolling through and artistic snake of mosaic you’ll be arriving at the first most west beach. When it comes to the Singapore beaches Sentosa is the place to be, it’s a great place for going to the beach! For a day out or even a whole weekend if you have the time! No worries of being bored. There is a lot to do! And all free of admission of course!
Siloso Beach
With having a price tag of over S$3.500.000, being build in 2012 and staggering amount of bars and restaurants Siloso Beach has some impressive stats. Out of all the beaches I have seen this is the most family kind a style beach of all Singapore beaches. Great for a picnic, sports and other family activities. The amount of (themed) bars, restaurants and beach clubs is staggering. Where Palawan beach is made for children and Tangjong especially tailored for a more mature crowd: Siloso is right there in the middle. Great for children and great for their parents. Go surfing for example in the “man-made-wave”, take a ride and rent a bike or just chill on the beach and get tan!
And skim boarding, rollerblading, kayaking are just a few other things I have seen while visiting Siloso. Yes, I assure you, there I no room for boredom at Siloso! And although this all sounds very buys, crowded, the beach is very long so there is always a quite place to find to read a book or just be alone with your thoughts!
The most visited and well known beach of Singapore. Very nice for a day of leisure and relaxation. Well relaxation, due to all the children running around and playing there is not that much quietness… Palawan beach has many tiny Caribbean style islands with suspension bridges linking them. Or you can swim of course.. Anyway, you will be impressed when you go to the Palawan Beach. Not only is all the amazing sand imported also all the palm trees and other beach artifacts are actually Malay or Thai.
Palawan beach is great for children to go to due to the Pirate theme that’s there, I wish I was still a kid. There is this huge (like HUGE) pirate ship with waterslides, waterguns, waterstuff and more water. I mean, woow. Okay in heart I’m still a kid too so went for it, waited in line with all the other kiddo’s and went from the highest slide there was! Had fun! And it’s amazing, all for
free. No charge! Yet after an hour the place was a bit too busy for me. Yes there is a lot to do for kids, however this also means that you can forget a quite romantic afternoon with your lover. However the beach is just as the other Singapore beaches very big. You can easily find a quite spot anywhere else on the beach that stretches out for about 1km. You can go with suspension bridges to these pirate islands. However this sounds childish, don’t be mistaken. They did a really good job here. And for the parents: one of the islands is the southernmost point of continental Asia! Oh yeah!
So to summarize Palawan beach: very lively, buzzing and a great place made especially for children. However also an ideal place for grown ups too! Get a drink, get a tan, be pirate, get the beach vibe!
Tanjong Beach
A bit less entertainment than Palawan Beach, however my most favorite beach of all the Singaporean Beaches. The atmosphere is just amazing. The entire Tanjong beach is shaped like a croissant and for this reason truly unique in its kind. The water is exceptionally warm, the beaches white as snow and the palm trees very exotic. There is also a great beach club that throws parties every weekend. Less children, more relaxation and most important a great getaway! There are places for you to picnic in the grass and BBQ. Also all the volleyball nets and other sports facilities make it a great place to get your blood pumping and be at the beach! It’s a bit more quite than
the other beaches and more for adults I’d say. And although the Singaporean nightlife is already as crazy as it with all its rooftop bars, you cannot miss out on a proper beach party. The Tangjon Beach Club is an ideal place to hang out and have a drink. They always have pretty good DJs who played mostly some summery vibes an loungy techno. Very relaxing I must say. The Tanjong beach is just like all the other Singapore beaches big. I mean, long. Because it started raining when I was there I’ve only visited the entrance of the beach so Im sure there is a lot more to at Tangjong beach!
