With so much diversity all stuffed into one single city it’s obvious that Singapore Tourism is just as diverse. Where historically Singaporean tourism was mostly comprised Asian tourists, nowadays also many western tourists from Europe and North-America visit the peninsula.
However there are many things to do in Singapore, I would suggest that about 5 days is enough to see and experience the whole city. If you plan to stay longer in Singapore, it’s a great hub for traveling to other Asian countries. Take the boat to Indonesia for example, or a bus to Malaysia! You can even fly for less than 50SGD to Thailand to escape the city life and enjoy the beaches of Phuket or Krabi. But, Singapore is great! And the longer you stay, the more you will discover! I promise!
The best thing about Singapore are all the different neighborhoods and parks that make you feel like you’re in a different part of the world. For instance take the metro to Little India for a curry and explore the bazaars with all its small shops and boutiques. Next walk for 10 minutes to Arabstreet and get indulged by the rich culture of middle-east heritage that is still clearly visible today in modern-day Singapore. And don’t get us started about Chinatown, a must visit when you come to Singapore. With a large population being Chinese, Chinatown is a place that will amaze you each time you arrive. Or walk around the Singaporean river that takes you to many Singaporean Landmarks, the old town, Gardens at the bay the trendy neighborhood Clarke Quay and the vibrant Central Business District with one of the most impressive architectural skyscrapers in the world.
A lot to offer
Although visiting Singapore just because of its rich cuisine and food culture it’s no secret that Singapore is one of the best places to shop in the world. With over 200 malls Singapore has something for all. Even if you don’t like shopping (like me) you will have a good time at one of the Singaporean malls! There is so much buzz going on with all trendy shops, hipster hangouts and newest fashion that just for shopping Singapore is worth your while visiting!
However a lot of tourists are not aware of this, Singapore has a rich arts and theater scene that you will find nowhere else in South-East Asia. Many events throughout the whole year such as the Singaporean Writers Festival, Thai Street Markets, Art Week, and Lights Festival at the bay are truly worth visiting. And with all the creative venues such as comedy clubs, intimate theaters and pop-up art galleries there is always something special to discover. I really like how all these arts are promoted and how Singapore tourism is indulged in cultural events during the year.
Yet by far the best thing about Singapore are all the great neighborhoods. Eat your way through the many cuisines and experience many different cultures first hand in one day. Please read all about it here!
